Murlikant Petkar is India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. He achieved this remarkable feat by winning an individual gold medal in the 1972 Summer Paralympics held in Heidelberg, Germany. His outstanding performance came in the 50m freestyle swimming event, where he set a world record with a remarkable time of 37.33 seconds.
