Buta Singh shot dead on construction site in Canada

Prominent builder and head of the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple in Canada’s Edmonton, Boota Singh Gill, tragically lost his life on Monday after being shot multiple times at a construction site. The Indian-origin construction company owner was gunned down in Edmonton city, leaving the community in shock. Maninder Singh Gill, managing director of Radio India, revealed that Sarabjeet Singh, a civil engineer, was also shot and is currently battling for his life. Reports indicate that Boota Singh Gill was the owner of Gill Built Homes Ltd., a luxury home building company in Edmonton.

The tragic incident unfolded when an altercation occurred at the construction site, leading to the fatal shooting of Gill and Singh by an Indian-origin construction worker who later took his own life. While the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, investigations are underway to shed light on the incident. Boota Singh Gill had previously reported receiving extortion calls and threats, prompting a police investigation

Police are asking citizens to avoid the area of Cavanagh Blvd SW and 30 Avenue SW while police investigate a shooting that occurred in the residential area around noon. There are no immediate concerns for public safety at this time and responding officers have secured the scene. EPS homicide investigators will be leading this investigation.
