Actor-turned BJP politician Kangana Ranaut recently found herself in a bit of a predicament after making a mistake during a political rally. Her intention was to target the opposition RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav, but she ended up mentioning the name of her own party colleague, BJP’s Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, due to the similarity in their names.

During the rally, Kangana Ranaut made the following statement: “There is a party of spoilt ‘shehzaadas’ (princes). They themselves don’t know where to go. Be it Rahul Gandhi, who wants to grow potatoes on the moon, or Tejasvi Surya, who indulges in hooliganism and eats fish.” Her criticism was intended for Tejashwi Yadav, who had been seen eating fish in a video, sparking controversy between the BJP and the opposition.

Tejasvi Surya, upon hearing Kangana’s remarks, responded with curiosity, asking, “Ye mohtarma kaun hai?” (Who is this lady?) on social media. Meanwhile, Kangana also took the opportunity to attack the Congress, including late leaders, which led to the party filing a complaint against her with the Election Commission. She has been openly critical of the Congress ever since the BJP nominated her as their Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

In her fiery speech, Kangana Ranaut further stated, “Nobody knows how Jawaharlal Nehru became the prime minister as voting was in favor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.” She criticized dynastic politics and made veiled references to her opponents in Mandi, Congress leaders Vikramaditya Singh and Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress responded by urging Kangana to verify facts about her party leaders and address the issue of dynastic politics. Amrit Kaur, the National Media Coordinator for the Congress, also raised doubts about Kangana’s qualifications that led to her receiving a BJP ticket from Mandi.

So, it seems Kangana Ranaut’s slip of the tongue caused quite a stir in the political arena, highlighting the importance of getting names right during public speeches!

There is a party of spoilt ‘shehzaadas’ (princes). They themselves don’t know where to go. Be it Rahul Gandhi, who wants to grow potatoes on the moon, or Tejasvi Surya, who indulges in hooliganism and eats fish,” she said.

Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, was intended to be the focus of her criticism due to a video where he was seen eating fish, which sparked a significant controversy between the BJP and the opposition.
