All-rounder Hardik Pandya’s stepbrother Vaibhav was arrested by the Mumbai police on Wednesday. According to a report in the Times of India, Vaibhav allegedly cheated Hardik and his brother Krunal of Rs 4.3 crore from a partnership firm and that has led Hardik and Krunal to a significant financial loss.
The report says that the three Pandya brothers had formed a polymer business in 2021. According to the business terms, Hardik and his brother Krunal had infused 40 percent of the capital each whereas Vaibhav stepped in with 20 per cent. However, the duo’s stepbrother Vaibhav then formed another form who dealt with the same trade without letting Hardik and Krunal know, that eventually violated the partnership agreement.
Around this time, profits of the original partnership dropped, causing a loss of Rs 3 crore,” a source was quoted as saying by Times of India. The source also added that the stepbrother increased the profit from 20 per cent to 33 per cent without the knowledge of Hardik and Krunal.
- Both Hardik and Krunal are currently participating in the IPL. While Hardik Pandya is leading Mumbai Indians (MI), Krunal Pandya continues to ply trade for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) since joining them in 2022. LSG are in third place with six points from four games whereas MI are in eighth with two points from four games, having beaten Delhi Capitals by 29 runs in their last match to clinch their first win of season.
