Pushpa 2: The Rule is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed and written by Sukumar under his Sukumar Writings banner. It is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar under their Mythri Movie Makers banner. The film stars Allu Arjun in the titular role, alongside Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Dhananjay, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, and Anasuya Bharadwaj, who are all reprising their roles from the previous film.
Pushpa 2: The Rule is the second installment in the Pushpa film series and serves as the sequel to Pushpa: The Rise. Approximately 10% of the film’s footage was initially shot back-to-back with the original film. However, Sukumar decided to alter the story, leading to the film’s principal photography commencing in October 2022. With a budget of ₹500 crore, it is one of the most expensive Indian films to date. The film is scheduled to release on 15 August 2024, coinciding with India’s Independence Day1.
In the teaser for Pushpa 2: The Rule, Allu Arjun takes on the avatar of Goddess Kali, adorned in a saree, emanating both fury and fearlessness. The film appears more captivating, ruthless, and power-packed than its prequel. Alongside Allu Arjun, the movie features Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, and Sunil reprising their respective roles from the first film. Allu Arjun’s portrayal of Pushpa Raj has evolved from a mere spark to a raging wildfire, and he declares, “Thaggedhele (I won’t bow down)” for any reason whatsoever2.
The anticipation for Pushpa 2: The Rule is heightened by the fact that Allu Arjun received the National Film Award for Best Actor for the first movie.
